Pep Guardiola: Anyone dreaming about winning a Ballon d'Or is 'ridiculous'

During their break they swung over to Dubai, where Guardiola had a natter with the club's owners, where discussions presumably included summer transfer targets and the urgent need to find a goalkeeper with flawless heading skills. He added, however, he had not received such assurances in person and suggested there would be a meeting at the end of the season to resolve the issue.

Guardiola, who succeeded Manuel Pellegrini as City manager previous year, said he was impressed by the Sheikh's football knowledge -- but the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss was left in no doubt he will be replaced if results are not good enough.

"I always try to do my best and do what the manager wants me to do".

"We know Claudio. It's not easy when you come to England, it's a different league", Zabaleta said.

"I can not answer at every single press conference about Sergio Aguero".

"If Gabriel Jesus is player of the month he's player of the month, I'm sad he's not able to help us and of course the moment he played he helped us a lot". Ten times I answer.

"Since the last injury [at Palace] he was one month, a month and a half, fit".

When the subject was raised at Guardiola's pre-match press conference on Friday, the former Barca boss said: "I spoke 10 times about that, 10 times".

"He's in the last process, on Thursday he trained with us, his first training session, he's ready to come back. I'm pretty sure he's coming back".

Guardiola has made clear that he would be content to go forward with Bravo and Caballero as his two goalkeepers next season.

City are unbeaten in eight games and look to be finding form after slipping out of frontline title contention during an indifferent spell. It will be a good yardstick as to City's progress under Guardiola.

"It's (getting) much better and that makes me confident", Guardiola said.

Aguero has scored 22 goals and assisted a further two strikes in 30 matches across all competitions for the Citizens this campaign. "That is what I have to continue".

On the contract front, there are more pressing matters for City, with deals for Yaya Toure, Pablo Zabaleta, Bacary Sagna, Jesus Navas, Gael Clichy, Wilfredo Caballero all set to expire after the end of the season. "One thing is that the club officially says it [that they want me here] and another thing is to tell me".

Vincent Kompany could play some part for Manchester City in Sunday's trip to basement boys Sunderland. But all I have to dedicate to is playing football. They will be happy if we win.
