YVR Airport Voted Best Airport Eighth Year In A Row

Research firm SkyTrax has named Singapore Airport "World's Best Airport" for a fifth consecutive year over regional rival Hong Kong.

The Singapore global airport clinched the top spot this year ahead of Tokyo's Haneda airport, South Korea's Incheon worldwide Airport, the Munich Airport in Germany and the Hong Kong global Airport.

The Skytrax win comes one week after MSP International won another award, Best Airport in North America in its size category for service quality, based on surveys conducted by Airports Council International.

GMR Group-led consortium Delhi International Airport on Wednesday said Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport has been declared as the "Best Airport in India and Central Asia" by Skytrax. Changi Airport has held the former title since the introduction of the award category in 2009.

Hamad International Airport, with its stylish architectural design, supported by advanced airport systems, features two of the longest runways in the world, a state-of-the-art air traffic control tower, a terminal building with annual capacity of 30mn passengers and over 40,000 square metres of combined retail, food and beverage facilities and a uniquely shaped public mosque.

The survey evaluated customer satisfaction across 39 key performance indicators for airport service and product - from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security and immigration, through to departure at the gate. This achievement demonstrates the airport's constant endeavor to improve the experience of transiting passengers by high setting standards of customer service.

John Holland-Kaye, Heathrow Chief Executive said, "Our team is constantly striving to deliver the best airport service in the world, and I am delighted to get such a strong endorsement from the people whose opinion matters most - our passengers".

The Skytrax World Airport Survey is the quality benchmark for the world airport industry and span around 550 airports.
