Moon's aides say he will commute from his home for the first few days as workers finish furnishing the Blue House residential space for him.
Putin made the comment after Moon said the foremost task to boost cooperation between the two countries was to strengthen strategic bilateral communication to find a solution to curb North Korea's nuclear threat, the Blue House said in a statement.
U.S. President Donald Trump, who spoke with Moon on Wednesday, this month opened the door to meeting North Korea's Kim Jong Un, saying he would be honored to meet Kim under the right circumstances.
In a televised inaugural speech, he said he will be on the move for peace on the Korean Peninsula, vowing to visit Pyongyang, under right conditions.
Moon, South Korea's first liberal leader in a decade, also said he'll "sincerely negotiate" with the United States, Seoul's top ally, and China, South Korea's top trading partner, over the contentious deployment of an advanced US missile-defense system in southern South Korea. The country hosts some 28,000 US forces.

This was the first time the Chinese leader has called a South Korean president to congratulate him or her on an election victory, said Yoon Young-chan, Moon's press secretary, at a press briefing.
The Prime Minister called Moon Jae-in to congratulate him on his election victory and discuss worldwide tensions over North Korea's nuclear weapons test programme.
Moon acknowledged China's concerns over the deployment of the Thaad system, but went on to request Xi to take a special interest in the concerns of Korean citizens and businesses in China that are suffering from a backlash over the Thaad deployment, asking for the restrictions and sanctions to be "resolved amicably". It's also significant that Moon indicated (albeit in an indirect manner) during his phone call with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe that he doesn't mean to adhere to the December 2015 agreement on the comfort women issue.
US officials have said they see no value in resuming global talks with North Korea until Pyongyang has made clear it is committed to denuclearization.
"The North Korean situation is a very, very risky one for South Korea, for Japan, frankly for China and for the rest of the world".
