In addition, a few weeks after officially taking Chris Jericho out of action, Kevin Owens tonight will be stealing Jericho's segment by hosting an episode of The Highlight Reel.

Mahal's enjoying the form of his career but will hope to come out of this match unscathed before his showdown against Randy Orton for the WWE Championship.

Shorty, he got cut off by AJ Styles who wanted to fight Owens.

It's rough knowing Ziggler is going to do the job at Backlash and WWE probably has nothing planned for him after the fact. Styles went after Owens, but Owens ducked out of the ring.

Fandango pinned Epico after hitting the Falcon Arrow before being interrupted by their opponents at Backlash - the WWE SmackDown Live Tag team champions, The USOS who sent out the second straight warning to the Fashion Police duo.

Carmella def. Naomi via pinfall: After the Welcoming Committee got ejected from ringside for trying to interfere, they began brawling with Flair and Becky Lynch outside the ring.

Randy Orton won with the RKO. Orton was not given much time to celebrate as Mahal approached the ring declaring that he would destroy his rival's pride, body and future at Backlash. Mahal tells him that there have been plenty of opportunities for RKOs and Randy hasn't caught him yet.

Dolph Ziggler cut a promo on Shinsuke Nakamura before facing him at Backlash. After he insults Naomi, the current SmackDown Women's Champion starts grabbing Ellsworth until Carmella tries to attack her. Shane McMahon and Tamina hold Naomi and Carmella back, respectively, and McMahon decides to turn this into a sanctioned match.

Matches in which titles change hands have become rare unless the event is a pay per view.

We're back with Corbin in control of Orton. Also, Baron Corbin delivered an ambush to Zayn to make their match official for this Sunday.

After a quick commercial break, Corbin is beating Orton down in the corner and then chokes him on the ropes.
