Chaffetz, the Utah Republican who heads the committee, tweeted late Monday afternoon that he "Spoke with Comey".
Before he'll testify before Congress, Comey wants to meet with recently appointed Special Counsel and fellow Former FBI Director Mueller.
This comes as former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn invoked his Fifth Amendment protection against self-incrimination, notifying the Senate Intelligence Committee that he will not comply with a subpoena seeking documents, a person with direct knowledge of the matter said Monday.
The congressman, who announced he is stepping down June 30, has cast doubt on news reports that there are written accounts from Comey detailing his meetings with Trump.
"It's important to remember nobody's actually seen these documents", Chaffetz said on Sunday.
"I don't know how to read it except that, I'm almost speechless because I don't know why someone would say something like that", McCain said, adding that the United States of America president should never have met with the Russian officials.More news: Northwestern takes NCAA women's golf lead in rain and cold

That panel has said Comey will appear after Memorial Day.
"Director Comey served his country with honor for many years, and he deserves an opportunity to tell his story". Comey was also reportedly seeking funding to extend the bureau's inquiry into alleged links between Russia and Trump and Russian interference in the 2016 election.
"I hope you can let this go", Trump told Comey according to the memo, first reported by the New York Times. I don't know where they reside.
President Trump fired Comey on May 9. I don't know if there are documents.
"And that's what has to be before the American people clear and distinct", Feinstein said on CBS's "Face the Nation".
