Pokkén Tournament DX announced & coming to E3

The games see users capture pokemon and compete with each other on a bunch of Islands. They originally launched on the Game Boy in 1999 and will be available as a digital download for the 3DS on September 22. It has been rumored before that the game would be the third game of "Pokemon Sun" and "Pokemon Moon".

Sadly, we didn't see any evidence of a traditional Pokemon game coming to the Switch.

In what was a bit of a surprise, Tuesday's Pokemon Direct didn't lead off with the announcement of a mainline game.

During the Pokemon Nintendo Direct today, it was revealed that Pokemon Gold and Silver are making their way to the 3DS virtual console.

Daily Challenges - Complete a variety of different daily challenges. We do know Legendary Pictures acquired the film rights to Pokemon and plans to produce a Detective Pikachu movie sometime this year, but will regions besides Japan get to play the game? The game is basically an updated console edition with the Pokken Tournament Arcade Edition characters ( Darkrai, Scizor, Empoleon, Crogunk) added in as well as Gen VII's Decidueye.

To celebrate, Nintendo will host an invitational tournament at its E3 2017 booth alongside the Splatoon 2 World Inkling Invitational and the ARMS Open Invitational. Daily challenges will also be on offer, as well as the ability to watch battle replays to help players hone their fighting skills. The invitational tournament will take place on Wednesday 14th June at 6.30pm United Kingdom time, and will feature eight YouTube and Twitch stars. Starting in 2018, some of the game's online features will require a paid subscription when Nintendo begins requiring memberships to participate in online play for the Nintendo Switch.
