As for Jenkins herself, as of Saturday afternoon after the sequel's confirmation, she was tweeting out positive responses to "Wonder Woman" fans about cosplay and compliments they gave the movie, but keeping mum on any sequel news.

The latest trailer picks up after the death of Superman from last year's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", and shows Batman and Wonder Woman joined by the Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman to fight supervillain Steppenwolf.

As NME reports, the numbers also mean that Wonder Woman is the highest grossing film directed by a woman.

Justice League is heading to theaters November 21, so stay tuned for more info - and likely, more smiles - as we get details on DC's next action flick at Comic-Con.

Warner Bros. has not announced a released date for the new "Wonder Woman".

As superhero movies are routinely led my male characters, Wonder Woman's appearance as part of the Justice League, and following on from the major success of her solo movie, is so important. It's not without flaws, but it presents a coherent, well thought out vision for how Wonder Woman should appear in the DC Extended Universe.

If you've ever met someone you've idolised, it can be a bit overwhelming for some - especially when you're a young fan and it's Wonder Woman. It's time... I realized that Wonder Woman 2 is its own great movie. I suppose we'll have to wait and see what ends up being true. It's something that female moviegoers have known for decades, but it took a Wonder Woman's lasso of truth to convince the industry. She stands for everything that is good...and there's nothing not to love about her.
