Thousands unable to access Facebook after unexplained outage


Users were unable to login to their accounts while some faced issues with sharing pictures or other posting statuses.

According to DownDetector, Facebook had some issues since 9:12 AM EDT.

Facebook was inoperative for many users, with thousands reporting they couldn't access the social media site on Saturday.

While another added: "People coming to Twitter to complain about Instagram and Facebook being down".

Facebook users flooded in to figure out three things: if they were the only ones affected, what the issue was, and when it will be fixed.

"Aaaargh both Instagram and Facebook are down!, wrote one woman".

Down Detector maps indicated that the outage affected users worldwide. "If Twitter has a meltdown and crashes, where do we go???"

The sites were not loading for many users.

"Facebook is down for required maintenance right now, but you should be able to get back on within a few minutes". Let us know down in the comments. Most of the issues appear to be affecting users in the northeastern United States and the Midwest.
