Amongst all of Acer's IFA 2017 announcements comes the Switch 7 Black Edition, a 2-in-1 detachable laptop with a slim build and what the company calls a world's first: a fanless design despite having discrete graphics.

"Whether for work, play or creating, in the office or on-the-go, Acer offers a wide range of products to meet diverse and unique needs of the modern user", said Acer's President of IT Products Business Jerry Kao. When comparing 8th generation Core i7 Kaby Lake-R processors to 7th generation Kaby Lake CPUs, Intel claims the newer chips are up to 40 percent faster, which takes into consideration the additional cores and threads. The display also incorporates Wacom EMR technology with support for 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity. It is a 2-in-1 notebook equipped with Acer's Dual LiquidLoop fanless cooling technology. In addition to its 8th-generation Intel Core processors, the S24 will also be available with an option for Intel Optane memory. Ultra-light magnesium-lithium alloys are used for both the top and bottom covers, while the palm rest area uses magnesium-aluminum alloys for enhancing the sturdiness.

The Spin 5 will go on sale in North America and EMEA starting from this September, with both the 13-inch and 15-inch models starting at $799, or, in EMEA, the 13-inch model starting at €899 and the 15-inch model starting at €999. When the keyboard isn't connected to the tablet, the Switch 7 Black Edition weighs about 2.5lbs.

The Swift 5 meanwhile is designed with true portability in mind. This is also the first system from Acer to feature its AutoStand, a fancy name for a patented kickstand that can be auto-deployed and auto-retracted, providing single-handed operation. The Switch 7 Black Edition will ship in December starting at $1,699. The Acer Swift 5 will also be available from December for €1,099. It was updated with 8th Generation Intel Core processors for a responsive experience and 8-hour battery life.

Available in either 13-inch or 15-inch sizes, the Spin 5 offers remarkably good hardware despite its spot at the low end of Acer's convertible lineup.

Acer has fitted the Spin 5 models with 8th-generation Intel Core processors, up to 16GB of RAM, a battery offering up to 13 hours of usage and discrete Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 graphics, exclusively for the 15-inch version.

The laptop will feature Dolby Audio Premium along with Acer's own TrueHarmony audio technology being pushed through two front-facing speakers.
