Pedro Baez makes the cut as Dodgers, Diamondbacks set rosters for NLDS

As the team takes the field against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, D-Backs fans are gathering to watch the game across the valley. But the left-hander threw 34 pitches over 2 1/3 innings in relief Wednesday during Arizona's wild-card win over Colorado, so it will be interesting to see how fresh he looks.

Despite the fact that Kershaw seemed to run out of gas, allowing three of his four runs in the sixth and seventh innings, Walker and the D-backs were down 4-0 before Walker recorded his first out. This has been on full display Friday night in Game 1 of the NLDS against the Arizona Diamondbacks. There will be a day off Sunday as the teams head to Phoenix, so Greinke will have his usual four days of rest between starts.

The Arizona Diamondbacks hope to tie up this series before going home for game three on Monday.

Walker went 9-9 with a 3.49 ERA in 28 starts during his first season with Arizona.

Kershaw mostly cruised through six innings, giving up a solo homers to A.J. "I go like that", he said, giving another display of the tongue-wagging, just in case anybody missed it the first time.

LA's big lead was down to 7-4 when the three-time Cy Young Award victor left, but the suspense didn't last: Turner and the 104-win Dodgers added two more runs in the eighth, capping a 12-hit performance.

Ray remains a possibility for Game 2.

Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts certainly enjoyed it, impressed by Turner's ability to slow the game down in high pressure situations. In a year when teams collectively scored more runs than in any year since 2008, the Dodgers gave up the fewest runs as a franchise since 2003. Scoring two runs off a Corey Seager triple following a clutch Austin Barnes pinch-hit in the bottom of the 8 inning solidified the lead for good.

NOTES: Despite having 59 career postseason games under his belt, Dodgers 2B Chase Utley was not in the starting lineup, INF Logan Forsythe, on getting the nod despite never having played in a postseason game. He gave up three earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and no walks over four innings in a 5-3 win at the Rockies his last regular season start.

"No regrets whatsoever", he said.

Turner finished the game with five RBI, tying a Dodgers postseason record shared by Pedro Guerrero and Davey Lopes. Paul Goldschmidt, J.D. Martinez and A.J. Pollock can all put a charge into one and leave the park at any time.
