John Mayer Has Been Hospitalized To Undergo An Emergency Appendectomy


Mayer, who is now touring with The Dead and Company, was forced to cancel his show in New Orleans today.

John Mayer was admitted into a hospital earlier this morning after experiencing significant abdominal pain, and is preparing to receive an emergency appendectomy.

The band's official Twitter account broke the news of Mayer's health issue early Tuesday.

Dead & Company is now next scheduled to perform on Thursday at the Amway Center in Orlando, FL.

John Mayer had to undergo an emergency appendectomy in New Orleans on Tuesday (December 5), representatives said. The group is made up of original Grateful Dead members Bob Weir and Mickey Hart as well as Bill Kreutzmann, Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti.

A statement from a Dead & Company rep adds, "All tickets for the December 5 show will be honored for the rescheduled date". Refunds will also be available at the point of purchase. No word yet on the remaining tour dates, which was scheduled to wrap up on Friday in Sunrise, Florida.

Further details about Mayer's condition are not yet known.
