'Star Wars: The Last Jedi'

Star Wars fans-the reactions are in.

And everyone else posting online is following suit.

From its beginning 40 years ago, "Star Wars" was influential in changing what today is taken for granted - see "Wonder Woman", "The Hunger Games", "Moana" - by spotlighting a strong heroine capable of saving herself as well as others.

The premiere came six days before the movie's general release in U.S. theaters, kicking off a run widely expected to be the most successful worldwide since 2015's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens".

It's not that surprising that Disney and Lucasfilm are campaigning to get some awards love for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Experts are predicting the movie - which opens on 15 December - will gross about $220m (£164m) on its opening weekend in the United States.
