Barcelona's record signing Philippe Coutinho will not be able to make his debut for the club for about three weeks because of a thigh injury he sustained while at Liverpool.

It was gathered that La Liga's leaders will part with €120 million as a guaranteed base fee for the Liverpool midfielder, with another €40 million in performance and appearance-related add-ons that are expected to be triggered.

"I have spoken with Neymar, he congratulated me".

"Many, many times, I have dreamed of scoring my first goal, important goals", added Coutinho. It's a dream for all the players who have been here and those who are here now. "I want to give thanks for my reception and I hope that soon I'll be on the pitch to live up to the expectations".

Philippe Coutinho became the third most expensive player in football history when he signed a five-and-a-half year contract with Barca on Monday.

However, he will not be eligible to play for Barcelona in their Champions League last-16 tie against Juventus, having already played a key role in Liverpool's qualification for the knockout phase.

Suarez, who played alongside Coutinho at Anfield until he joined Barca in 2014, is looking forward to great success with the playmaker after being reunited. The directors understood it was my dream, they would have liked me to stay but it was my dream to come here and they understood.

Coutinho becomes Barcelona's fifth signing of the season following the return of Gerard Deulofeu to his boyhood club and the arrivals of Ousmane Dembele, Paulinho and Nelson Semedo last summer.
