700bhp-plus Shelby Mustang GT500 to arrive in 2019

If you thought the upcoming Bullitt was the most noteworthy Mustang news Ford had to offer the 2018 Detroit Auto Show, think again.

Tell and tease of an imminent 700bhp+ Shelby GT500 Mustang hails the return (at the New York Auto Show, we expect) of the proper pumped-up pony.

"Arriving in 2019, the all-new Mustang Shelby GT500 will be the pinnacle of Mustang performance and highlights the innovation, ingenuity and passion of Ford Performance", said Ford.

The Premium and Performance Packages of the Mustang GT are included in the new Bullitt.

Steve McQueen graduated from Boys Republic in 1946 before becoming a successful actor starring in the movie "Bullitt", about troubled police detective Frank Bullitt, who also "made it".

Wouldn't a nice, classic-looking set of analog gauges have been more appropriate?

Because of the car's value, the owners didn't seem to be interested in letting the world know about this special Mustang, but the new Bullitt edition vehicle created a flawless excuse to bring the original back into the public eye. Classic-looking they are not, and they threaten to distract from the model's sharp Torq Thrust wheels.

One hundred percent of the 2019 Mustang Bullitt auction proceeds will be provided to Boys Republic to help children in desperate need find within themselves the resources and skills to begin meaningful lives on their own.

Exterior paint choices are limited to Shadow Black and the classic Dark Highland Green - as worn in the movie. Buyers shouldn't be given the option of ruining their cars with that nonsense.

And while the standard Mustang GT V8 is sold in Australia, where the facelifted version arrives this year, there's no indication whether we will get the GT500. We hope that the statistics remain similarly skewed this time around.
