Douglas Haig A 'Person Of Interest' In Las Vegas Shooting

"During the early stages of the investigation, search warrants were completed with the known facts at the time", a Las Vegas police spokesperson told the Review-Journal, adding that more recent information "is a more complete picture of the investigation as we know it now".

Speaking at his suburban home in Mesa, Haig said he planned to hold a news conference later this week to answer questions about his name surfacing in the investigation. Then the timeline shifted and reporters were told that Campos was actually shot by Paddock six minutes before the attack began. It's not clear if Haig could face charges related to the October 1 shooting. Specialized Military Ammunition's website says it is "closed indefinitely". That company, which started in 1991, sells ammunition by phone, according to its website.

Lombardo on January 19 released an 81-page preliminary report of the investigation, and said police and the FBI believe Paddock acted alone before he killed himself after the shooting.

He has repeatedly said Paddock was the only shooter to open fire from the Mandalay Bay hotel onto more than 20,000 people attending a country music festival.

Paddock did call Haig and paid him a visit in Mesa, Arizona.

He says, he first learned of Paddock at a gun show in Las Vegas when Paddock approached his booth and talked to another worker saying he wanted to put a deal together.

Paddock possibly purchased ammunition from Haig.

District Court Judge Elissa Cadish issued a gag order Tuesday preventing publication of the original document that showed Haig's name, reported the Los Angeles Times.

Initially, Paddock's girlfriend, Marilou Danley, was named "person of interest" in the investigation.

Police officials did not respond to telephone, text and email messages about Haig from AP. An FBI spokeswoman told that outlet she could not immediately comment Tuesday.

The documents show that early in the investigation, police believed Paddock must have had help. Paddock killed 58 people and left hundreds injured.

Neither the police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation nor the USA attorney's office have commented on whether Haig is still considered a person of interest in the investigation, however Las Vegas sheriff Joe Lombardo said earlier this month that investigators believed Paddock had acted alone.

The newspaper published the name online. Police found 23 guns when they raided his 32nd-floor room at the Mandalay Bay, from where he fired onto the crowd. He was a high-stakes poker player on a losing streak.

One was deceased shooter Stephen Paddock's girlfriend, Marilou Danley, who has since been publicly cleared in the case.

"I ordered them redacted and thought they were redacted not only to protect the investigation but because of concerns about possible danger to this individual", Cadish said, according to the Times.
