Shots fired at north Georgia high school, teacher in custody


Authorities identified the teacher as 53-year old Jesse Randall Davidson, who teaches social studies at Dalton High School where the incident took place.

Randal Jesse Davidson, a popular teacher and sports radio personality in north Georgia, was taken into custody after barricading himself in a room at Dalton High School and firing a gun.

JJ Doe did not have a criminal history, his public Facebook posts were nearly all in good nature, all "lighthearted", and had previously penned a blog post about himself that stated he had found himself in a "happy medium" between being a high school educator and local live sports broadcaster.

"Certainly shocking. probably shock any school principal if one of their staff members pulled out a gun in a classroom and fired it", Bartloo says.

After that, Bartoo said he tried again to enter the classroom, this time putting his key in the door and announcing himself, only to have it slammed on him again.

Police in Dalton, Georgia, responded to a report this afternoon of shots fired at Dalton High School.

Classes will resume Friday.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Davidson had been at the school since 2004, and was perceived as the school's "best instructor" in 2012. The high school campus is less than a mile from the Dalton Police Department headquarters.

Since the Florida shooting, students have been demanding that lawmakers take action and pass new gun laws. Students were being trampled and screaming.

Assistant Police Chief Cliff Cason said in a statement at the time that officers planned an increased presence at the city's schools in response to the note.

The latest school shooting was a little bit different - and not a good look for Donald Trump and the NRA's plan to put more guns in schools.
