Trump jokes it up at Gridiron Dinner

Mulling over who the White House might next bid adieu to, Trump joked about whether it might be his own wife Melania. He then quipped, "And I told them not to worry - nobody does self-deprecating humor better than I do".

White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said in February it was not yet decided whether the U.S. leader would attend that annual event.

"I like turnover. I like chaos".

He also said that Pyongyang had said that they were willing to hold talks over a call made "a couple of days ago", but he had made it clear that the nation would be willing to denuke.

In October after Secretary of State Rex Tillerson revealed in Beijing that the United States had "lines of communication", but posted on Twitter: "I told Rex Tillerson, our wonderful Secretary of State, that he is wasting his time trying to negotiate with Little Rocket Man". But the North Koreans pulled out of the planned session. "He starts out each morning asking everyone, 'Has he been impeached yet?'"

To be fair, Trump did tell at least one self-deprecating joke last night: "My staff was concerned that I couldn't do self-deprecating humor".

Hew also kidded about his wife Melania, his son-in-law Jared Kushner, his former top adviser Steve Bannon and senior Democrats.

"So, who's going to be the next to leave? That's awful", Trump said.

It seems the President just can't get it right in public, after he was mocked once again on Twitter over a public display of affection during the memorial service for much loved preacher, Reverend Billy Graham, last week. "She said, behave! By the way she has been an incredible first lady". "We were late tonight because Jared could not get through security".

In another wisecrack, Trump said he had offered Jeff Sessions a ride to the event but the attorney general "recused himself" - a reference to the top law enforcement official's abstention from the Russian Federation probe.

Since its foundation in 1855, nearly every president has attended the annual white tie dinner at least once during their administration. The entertainment includes comedy/song sketches form media members.

Trump accepted an invitation to this year's dinner, his first. "I am accomplishing a lot in Washington and have never had a better time doing something, and especially since this is for the American People!"

Now, I'm sure some Trump supporters will defend Trump with a typical "what aboutism", arguing that President Barack Obama comically fileted Trump at the 2011 White House Correspondent's Dinner.
