Demi Lovato Says Trauma of 2016 Met Ball Nearly Broke Her Sobriety

Demi Lovato is a superstar, but that doesn't mean she always loves the glamorous life of an A-lister.

While she technically kept it classy by not name dropping anyone specific during her tea time, Lovato still opened up about an extremely shady interaction at the 2016 Met Gala. This one celebrity was a complete b--h and it was miserable to be around. "It was very cliquey", Lovato told Billboard in a new interview published on Thursday (March 8th). I remember that I was so uncomfortable that I even wanted to drink.

After texting her manager, Lovato made it in time for a 10 p.m. AA meeting, with some evidence of the Met Gala still lingering on her body. I was sitting in a meeting AA in diamonds worth several million dollars.

"I related more to the homeless people in that meeting who struggled with the same struggles that I deal with than the people at the Met Gala - fake and sucking the fashion industry's dick".

Speaking previously in a statement about the therapy sessions, Demi said: "Mike and CAST Centers played a vital part in my recovery and I think it's important to helping start hard but necessary conversations about mental health and addiction recovery".

Many have discussed the possible feud that brewed between Demi and Nicki Minaj after they both accompanied designer Jeremy Scott that year. Demi then commented on Nicki's photo with a laughing emoji, a peace sign, and a thumbs up, before posting her own picture showing Nicki giving her some serious side eye.

The former Disney star took to Snapchat, writing, "When you aren't mentioned in a post but didn't do shit to the person..."

"P.s. some of y'all need to learn how to take a joke..."

She vowed to never attend another Met Gala after a seemingly awkward run-in with Nicki Minaj at the event in 2016. "I'm loving myself - not for what I look like, but for who I am". "But actually, I don't have to do that". She added that she loves Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea because they are real with her. She's very outspoken, and sometimes it can turn people off.

Lovato explained her honesty "holds me accountable".

She continued by critiquing artists who don't use their voice to fight for change.
