How to turn Google Maps into Mario Kart


Google Maps has released a new feature that will give you a nostalgia-filled ride.

For its part, Nintendo is celebrating Mario Day with a more traditional offering: between March 10th and March 25th, you can get 50% off Super Mario Run on iOS and Android.

The Google Maps' update for "Mario Time" is available for both Android and iOS devices.

This something special will come in the form of Mario Kart racing onto Google Maps, where users will be able to drive around as Mario.

As always, respect the rules of the road. So now the mustachioed plumber will also navigate Google map for users.

"Just do not forget to practise safe driving on the road", Google Maps' official blog says. Google also encourages you to take a screenshot of your trip and share it with them on Twitter and Instagram. Today is National Mario Day and on this occasion, Google has made a decision to bring the beloved gaming character Mario on the Google Maps.

It's a coloured-out '?' box from the Mario games.

To get started, you'll need to first update your app from Google Play or the App Store.

At the bottom of your screen you'll see three icons - with the third from the left being the question mark icon seen in many Nintendo games.

"We know a true Mario fan when we see one". Over the years, the Super Mario game itself has evolved from 32-bit cassette games to high-end Nintendo consoles, PCs and mobile phones.

It's in honor of March 10th, or "Mario Day". He'll be a constant companion wherever you're driving this week.
