Terrorists attack BJP leader in Srinagar, gunfight underway


"Three terrorists in an undisclosed location are trapped and engaged in encounter after an unsuccessful attempt of weapon snatching from PSO [personal security officer] of a protected person", Director General of Police SP Vaid had tweeted.

Security forces have cordoned off the Khanmoh area in Pulwama district after the terror attack. The attempt was foiled by police personnel accompanying Khan. "These type of attacks can't stop BJP's dedicated workers in Kashmir from choosing better future", BJP state president Sat Sharma told reporters here today.

Ahmad was rushed to a hospital, where his condition was stated to be stable. Ahmad injured his leg in the incident while Khan escaped unhurt.

A police spokesperson said that incriminating materials, including weapon and ammunition, have been recovered from the slain terrorists.

"The area has been cordoned off by police and security forces and is being searched. militants are hold up", police said in a statement.

He said the incident stands testimony to the fact that the separatists and the militants along with their supporters are anxious of the developments in the Kashmir region.

Police has also seized the vehicle used by the three terrorists, he added.
