Stella Artois recalls beer bottles that may contain particles of glass

Also included in the recall are Stella Artois Légère six packs and 12 packs in the U.S.

Stella Artois announced a voluntary recall of certain bottles of beer over concerns that pieces of the glass could break off and fall into the beverage. The potentially-affected bottles were manufactured by a third-party which is one of many supplying Stella Artois with glass bottles. The exact codes are listed in this announcement from Stella Artois and shown here.

"The spokesman said that according to the information provided by the importer concerned, it had imported a total of 2 160 cartons of the affected batches of the product and all of them had been distributed". But officials made a decision to recall certain packages as a precaution.

Any beer that is possibly affected will have one of several packaging dates. Attached are photos which show the exact location of the relevant production codes.

Stella Artois says consumers can return packages covered by the warning to get their money back and it is working with distributors and retailers to have packages that could be affected removed from stores. "While the number of potentially affected glass bottles is very small, we are recalling these Stella Artois packages as a precautionary measure", Christina Choi, global brand vice president at Stella Artois, said in a statement.

If you have any questions, you can call the company at 1-855-215-5824 between 9am and 9pm.

Consumers are urged not to drink the beer and are eligible for reimbursement.
