A mix of weather conditions will kick in across MI late tonight or Friday. Just be ready to dodge some passing showers.
For the next 8- to 14-day outlook, precipitation will remain below average contrary to the forecast for the Pacific Northwest, Northeast, and the Central Plains states. Contrary to popular belief, these sirens are not meant to be heard indoors - they are to warn people who are outside that severe weather is threatening and they should take shelter. Much colder weather arrives late Friday night into Saturday morning behind the thunderstorms.
In those areas, the primary threats as of Wednesday will be large hail, damaging winds and possible tornadoes. A breakdown in the pattern begins on Saturday and rain will fall off and on through the day. The Storm Prediction Center is monitoring the Southeast coast for a risk of severe weather later Sunday. Rain and storms will continue through the night and early Sunday. A strong upper-level low will cut off from the jet stream.
That "pump" also sets the stage for active severe storms west of us Friday; while we are in the low-80s with a south breeze, strong storms develop over Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana Friday afternoon and evening. These showers will slowly fade as they move eastward.
"Blizzards, ice storms, lots of snow and this winter has definitely kept us busy with letting people know about hazardous winter weather", she said. Sunday will start off nearly chilly with sun-up temperatures in the mid 40°s for the Red Stick.
Temperatures do cool down slightly with highs in the middle 70s on Friday.
NEXT WEEK: Most of the week looks dry, and Monday and Tuesday morning will be cold, with potential for lows in the 30s. Expect highs in the 60s.
