While the companies' public announcements only specified that Amazon Fire TV Edition TVs would be sold in Best Buy stores, a Wall Street Journal report claims that the deal reaches further, with Best Buy selling the TVs on its online store and acting as the exclusive merchant of the TVs on Amazon's own website.

Amazon and Best Buy have announced that they plan to collaborate in order to bring the next generation of Fire TV Edition smart TVs to the USA and Canada.

With the new generation of Amazon Fire TV Edition models you'll be able to watch live over-the-air programming and be able to access all of your streaming content.

While Amazon and Best Buy both sell a lot of TVs online, he said consumers still like going to physical stores to make such purchases, a significant acknowledgment from one of the world's richest men who has made much of his fortune from selling products online. According to Best Buy, more than 10 such Fire TV Edition smart TVs will hit the market starting this summer. Fire TV Edition-branded TVs come with Fire TV software built-in, as well as Echo pairing capabilities and an Alexa remote.

Best Buy will sell them in its stores and online in the US, and later from Canada.

The sets will be exclusively sold in Best Buy stores, on BestBuy.com, and for the first time, on Amazon.com from Best Buy as a third-party seller. It's unclear if Best Buy will pay a standard commission as an Amazon merchant, or whether a different deal was negotiated.

The partnership with Amazon is an example of Best Buy's role in working with technology companies, helping to commercialize their innovations. "Best Buy chooses Amazon Fire TV Edition for its innovative user experience combined with the intelligence of Alexa", says the other.

This is all great news for Best Buy.

"More and more what everybody wants is all of this stuff to be more seamless than it is today when you have so many choices out there", he said.
