Royal baby: Prince William jokes about 'strong name' after new son's birth

The baby, whose name has still yet to be announced, was wrapped in a GH Hurt and Son LTD white shawl (yes, even Royal shawl-makers get a fashion credit) for his official introduction to the world.

Turns out you don't need much to have duchess hair ... just this. The eldest of the Prince William and Kate's babies weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces.

The baby's name will be shared first with the Queen before being announced to the public, with family members remaining tight-lipped about the final decision.

"Jerry is a strong name, absolutely", William said.

Proud parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - or Will and Kate - stepped out holding their new tiny baby, just hours after she had given birth to the healthy baby boy.

She was accompanied by William, their Kensington Palace home said in a statement.

Coral said Albert was now 5-1, but a Prince Arthur remains the favourite at 5-2, closely followed by James at 4-1.

Meet the little prince, who's definitely ready for his close up.

High Commissioner to London Alexander Downer suggested Alexander would be a good name for the royal baby.

Prince George is called George Alexander Louis, while Princess Charlotte is called Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.

Who has already met him?

In his first public outing since the birth, Prince William attended an Anzac Day Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey on Wednesday. The Prince once called George and Charlotte "the most incredible things ever".

The baby is the queen's sixth great-grandchild and is behind his grandfather and heir Prince Charles, father William, and siblings George and Charlotte in line to the throne.

"She's been popping in and out of Kensington Palace, helping with George and Charlotte". Kate, who gave birth to George on July 22, wore a polka dot dress that drew comparisons to her late mother-in-law, Diana.

Prince Charles is now in France, but he'll return on Wednesday to meet his grandchild.

'It is a great joy to have another grandchild, the only trouble is I don't know how I am going to keep up with them'.
