A birdie on his last hole of the day, No. 9, may have saved him, as the projected cut line was two-over at the time of publication.
"I think when it comes to Tiger ... everyone wants to see him win and play the way he did before", said Australia's former world number one Jason Day. Woods missed a great birdie try on the 14th hole when he drove into a green-side bunker and blasted out to four feet. "I feel more comfortable on faster greens".
"If I just make a few putts, I shoot 2 under, 3 under, but I just didn't make anything".
"I think on my good day I've got a good chance of beating him. I struggled to make the adjustments today".
"They're springy and they're firm, that's not a combo you would expect". He parred his way around until missing a four-footer to bogey the par-3 sixth hole then missed a six-foot birdie bid at seven before making his closing birdie. Even on Sunday when I shot 4-under par, I was in some tough spots. From the trees left of the ninth fairway, his approach cleared the bunker and was headed for the flag as the crowd - "seven or eight people and a Golden Retriever in the grandstands back there", he said - began to cheer in anticipation.More news: Marvel's Ant-Man and The Wasp gets a new trailer

Woods' best finish this season is a tie for second at the Valspar Championship, but said he's still trying to get a gauge for where his overall game is following years of persistent back problems.
"The way the golf course is set up and the way it's playing right now, the guys are going to be stacked", he said. "This golf course is a lot harder, a lot harder than when I played, a lot longer and it's gotten more difficult", Woods said. "More bunkers are in play, they're more hard to carry, and some of the greens have more slope". After hitting 13 of 18 greens in regulation in Round 1 on Thursday, Woods did so again on Friday.
Rory McIlroy, the event's only two-time victor, is another shot off the pace in a 10-way logjam in seventh place after opening with a 3-under 68.
'Ball striking wise I'm fine, I'm right there. "I made some good swings and hit some good putts".
Wells Fargo Championship TV coverage is provided by Golf Channel from 2 pm EST through 6 pm EST. While the wooded setting and much of the course looked familiar - he won here in 2007, after all, and has played here six times - he was on unfamiliar ground during a Tuesday practice round and Wednesday's pro-am. It should be noted that the Wells Fargo Championship is the only regular PGA Tour event where he's missed the 36-hole cut twice.
