Wonder Woman 2 receives a cryptic and exciting update

Whether "Wonder Woman 84" is actually the name of the film remains to be seen. The first film, which premiered in 2017, took place during the first World War in 1917.

Jenkins and Geoff Johns, president and chief creative officer of DC Entertainment, updated their social media accounts with the image this afternoon. The consensus reads, "Thrilling, earnest, and buoyed by Gal Gadot's charismatic performance, Wonder Woman succeeds in spectacular fashion".

Previously, director Patty Jenkins revealed that Wonder Woman 2 will be set in the United States. Rumors about the film's setting surfaced previous year, claiming it will take place during the tail end of the Cold War and see Diana battling against the Soviets.

Does this mean the movie will be during the Cold War in 1984? The sequel's villain is Cheetah, played by Kristen Wiig. Jenkins, Johns and Dave Callaham have co-written the script. Warner Bros has set the film's release date for November 1 next year.

Wonder Woman was a big hit for Warner Bros. last year, setting numerous records on its way to $821 million worldwide and becoming the top-grossing film of all time from a female filmmaker with solo directing duties. While there are rumors of Chris Pine returning as Steve Trevor, no one from the cast or crew has confirmed as much.
