Microsoft Unveils 'Halo Infinite' Announcement Trailer at E3

While their conference may not do enough to sway their biggest dissenters, E3 2018 proved that, given time, Microsoft is a company that adapts and thrives from player feedback, harkening back to Sony's E3 2016 with a deluge of new games and trailers.

Their presser was chock-full of game announcements and trailers, including a new Forza Horizon, new Halo, new Gears, and updates on Crackdown and other titles.

Microsoft is adding five new game studios, one it is creating in Southern California and another four it is buying, Xbox team chief Phil Spencer said. Taken together, this represents a doubling of Microsoft's wholly owned game studios. Any future content from the handful of studios Microsoft bought is potentially years away. He boasted that the company's E3 lineup is its "most diverse gaming portfolio in every measure".

Over the last six years, Playground Games has been helping to keep Microsoft's first-party efforts afloat with the Forza Horizon series. Spencer said that the hardware team behind the Xbox One X is "deep into architecting the next Xbox consoles" and that they'll "set the benchmark for console gaming". The partnership announcement comes alongside the announcement of Forza Horizon 4, a new title in the series.

Not to mention Halo Infinite, a new adventure in the Master Chief story and the next major release in the franchise built from the ground up on the new Slipspace engine. "We are amplifying our investment in new worlds". The game was developed in response to the rather popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise of the late 80s and early 90s.

The upcoming Forza game will also include a cool open world multiplayer experience that lets you pit your racing talents against real gamers. Having been independent for a long time, the move will give them a lot more financial security when their games have sometimes struggled to gain the audience they deserve.

"With the ultimate freedom to explore and play over 100 great games, Xbox Game Pass delivers our members an incredible value in gaming".
