So far, his attack on British diver Vern Unsworth, who was cited as being instrumental in the rescue, is not winning hearts and minds.

Instead of deleting his tweet, walking back his accusation, or apologizing, Musk is thus far owning his statement, and using it to advertise an ETH and BTC giveaway lower in the thread, seemingly oblivious to the negative comments swirling around him.

Earlier, Unsworth, who helped rescue 12 boys and their soccer coach from a Thai cave, criticized Musk for creating a "PR stunt".

In the same tweet, Musk also responded to Unsworth's claim that the he was asked to leave the cave and his help was not appreciated by officials leading the rescue mission.

In case you missed it, Musk flew into Thailand at the height of the media frenzy surrounding the trapped boys, offering to help get them out.

Unsworth said Musk was asked to leave the cave "very quickly".

Musk further questioned the allegation of a PR stunt, saying he had repeatedly declined to help until the death of former Royal Thai Navy special operations diver Saman Gunan in the cave.

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk was one of the top 50 donors last quarter to a PAC aimed at maintaining Republican control of the House, new federal filings show.

When a Twitter user pointed out that Musk was "calling the guy who found the children a pedo", the billionaire responded: "Bet ya a signed dollar it's true". "We will make one of the mini-sub/pod going all the way to Cave 5 no problemo".

He said he had not seen Unsworth - whom he dismissed as "this British expat guy who lives in Thailand" - during his brief guided tour of the cave system and suggested that, therefore, Unsworth had not actually participated in the rescue operation.

"It just had absolutely no chance of working", he continued.

He was involved in the rescue for the whole 17 days.

"Just returned from Cave 3".

"Mini-sub is ready if needed". The "Wild Boars" football team and the coach had been stuck in the cave since June 23.

"Although his technology is good and sophisticated it's not practical for this mission", Mr Narongsak said.

In a tweet Saturday, Musk called his political leanings moderate and touted his support for environmental and humanitarian causes.
