John Legend Just Achieved EGOT Status and Chrissy Teigen Couldn't Be Happier

The singer and actor won an Emmy at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, along with Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, for producing the best variety special victor, "Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert".

The Creative Arts Emmys, which was held a week ahead of the 70th annual Emmy Awards, celebrates "technical and creative achievement categories" in animation and scripted comedy including drama, limited series animation and scripted programming, reality, and variety programming.

At 39, he is the youngest person to achieve EGOT status.

"Being a part of Jesus Christ Superstar was one of my favourite experiences in my career", Legend said in a statement following the nominations. Musical theater legends Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, who composed the show, also won as producers.

The three earned the quadruple honor in the same award category at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards when "Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert" won for Outstanding Variety Special (Live). Last year, he won a Tony for Best Revival of a Play as a co-producer of "Jitney".

Following her husband's historic win, Teigen shared celebratory posts on Twitter and Instagram.and slipped in an Arthur joke.

Legend's wife, model and TV personality Chrissy Teigen, also celebrated with a photo of her kissing him and a video of Legend putting his latest trophy on the top shelf of a display of awards. He is 39 years old and the first black man to win the EGOT. And as of Sunday night, he's now an EGOT victor.

They join 12 other EGOT recipients including Audrey Hepburn, Scott Rudin, Mel Brooks, Whoopi Goldberg and Robert Lopez. The Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie will be awarded at the Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony on September 17.
