The Cleveland Browns promised they were going to get rid of Josh Gordon by Monday and it looks like they might have finally found a team interested in working out a trade for the beleaguered wide receiver.
If the Patriots make the trade, it would give Tom Brady his most talented receiver since Randy Moss, who was also acquired in a high-risk, high-reward trade. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Patriots are sending the Browns a conditional 2019 fifth-round draft pick in exchange for Gordon.
The Browns announced their intentions to release Gordon after landing in New Orleans for Sunday's game against the Saints at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
The Cleveland Browns were set to release wide receiver Josh Gordon, but a few National Football League teams apparently made sure they pressed pause on that decision. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Gordon injured his hamstring at a promotional shoot, and there's a belief that how the injury occurred is part of the reason why Cleveland finally cut ties with him. He missed training camp to receive treatment and the Browns were cautiously optimistic he would help them this season.

Gordon's tantalizing talent had caused the Browns to hang onto him while he dealt with drug and alcohol dependence dating his teens.
But that was in 2013, and Gordon has played in just 11 games since because of his off-field issues.
However, after that Pro Bowl season, Gordon was suspended for 44 consecutive games dating back to the final week of the 2014 season, which was a team ban for reportedly missing a walk-through prior to a trip to Baltimore to play the Ravens.
In five games last season with the Browns, Gordon recorded 18 receptions for 335 yards and a touchdown.More news: Bob Woodward's book Fear: Trump in the White House released on Kindle
