The offending messages apparently have the word "Juegas" and a unusual symbol that can't be recognized by the PS4. One suggestion is to download the PS Messages app onto your smart device of choice and delete the offending message from there. Have you or someone you know had your PS4 bricked? Options for that setting include allowing messages from anyone, friends only, or no one. There are reports buzzing around the internet, Reddit in particular, that PS4 owners are have their consoles soft-bricked via a bug that is sent through the Private Message system.
Reddit user Qraeshawn said: "I had a player named Zilla-Trickz that sent me 7 messages saying: Fortnite  3, but the heart was an emoji".
This exploit seems to work by including characters that go larger than the limit in memory given to a message, if the message doesn't fit in that allocated buffer then it could overflow into just about any other piece of memory within the system. With the bug only just coming to light, Sony has yet to officially confirm or respond to the problems, but presumably a software update is going to be enough to plug the security hole and protect against similar problems in the future.
If you've received a malicious message with three heart emojis followed by a question mark box symbol, chances are your PS4 has frozen up and either needed a factory reset or a database rebuild to correct it. Messaging, and set Messages to either Friends (if you trust them) or No One.
