Lions Trade Golden Tate To Eagles For Third-Round Pick

Tate has 44 catches for 517 yards and three touchdowns this season.

Tate, 30, is entering a contract season, and yet reports surfaced on Monday that the Lions would have to be blown away in order to green-light a deal.

It was later announced that the Lions would be receiving a third-round pick in return.

"I don't think so", Tate told Birkett on Monday evening after the rumors started swirling.

If the Eagles do keep Tate on the interior, they will be very hard to cover across the middle of the field as tight end Zach Ertz is already a huge threat in that area.

The defending Super Bowl champions Eagles are 4-4 and have a bye this week.

"We know this is an incredibly smart guy and an incredibly hard worker", Roseman said of Tate. I talked to him last night.

Well, as it relates to Golden Tate - apparently, it was.

"Because I'm exhausted of the Patriots winning everything", Tate said. It's more about players, it's about relationships. "We wish Golden and his family the very best in the next step of his career".

Detroit now has a 3-4 record, with a hard schedule ahead of it.

ESPN's Adam Schefter broke the news on Twitter Tuesday afternoon, citing a source.
