Pochettino bookmakers' hot favourite to take over at United

Manchester United caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he will "get the players enjoying football" again following the sacking of Jose Mourinho.

One of Mourinho's persistent complaints this season was his lack of support in the transfer market, but Solskjaer has revealed he will contribute to recruitment.

Spaniard Guardiola, who played for Barcelona for 11 years before winning 14 trophies including two Champions League titles as manager, said United would not have turned to Molde manager Solskjaer if he did not fully deserve the opportunity.

"The amount of games coming up is no problem because we've got quality players and they'll get a chance to show that they're Man Utd players", he said of the packed schedule.

"I think the hangover of Sir Alex Ferguson's great tenure will take some more time to get rid of".

The Sun are reporting that Alexis Sanchez sent a message in the United players" WhatsApp group following the demise of Mourinho with it clearly saying - "I told you so!

"As I said, my ambition is big - I am doing my badges, visiting clubs to see how they work, updating my knowledge constantly". I want the players to be the kids that love to play football and go out in front of the best fans in the world.

But suggestions his relationship with Mourinho was so bad he bet the manager would be sacked have been vigorously denied.

Jose Mouriho believes Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes conspired against him to get him the sack at Manchester United.

"I keep the good things and I don't speak about anything that happened in the club", Mourinho said.

With 17 fixtures already played this season, Manchester United FC is now ranked 6th packing 26 points (seven wins, five defeats), and the club is 19 points adrift of leaders Liverpool FC. "I made a few of them but they're back in the Premier League now so maybe they're not that unhappy".

"I can't wait to help the team", he added.

"You do expect (Pogba) to perform". I accept opinions when you win and people praise you and when you lose and they're negative against you. "My job now is to do as well as I can and move the club forward as well as I can".

"From day one, not only in the coaching staff but with the players, there's a lot of rumours that happen in football".

"The amount of games coming up is no problem because we've got an awesome squad, we've got 23-24 players", Solskjaer said.

Solskjaer, who was known during his playing days at Man Utd as a "super-sub" - a substitute who comes in late to save the game with decisive goals - also sought to reassure players that they'd have a chance to prove themselves.
