Rian Johnson and GOT Creators Plotting the Future of Star Wars Movies

While Benioff, Weiss, and Rian might be central to the future of Star Wars, Kennedy did confirm they are looking for new talent, "We have a series of filmmakers that we're bringing into the fold, that we can start to look at as directing talent, and we're trying to bring women into the mix as well". While she acknowledged the hiatus, she also spoke about what's on the horizon. A slip of the tongue from General Grievous voice actor and Skywalker Sound editor Matthew Wood, along with sources for Eurogamer, indicate that a new game is indeed in development. Ragtag was the codename for the title Hennig's team was working on, which was set to be a single-player title in the vein of something like Uncharted. Then, Visceral was shut down, Ragtag was canned and crucially, Battlefront 2 fell flat due to a controversial monetisation system. "So maybe this is just a demonstration of a change of strategy for EA".

"It's odd!, I have to be candid with you.I mean, it's coming from the EA Star Wars Twitter handle, so it's certainly part of the plan, but I don't know whether it's implicitly referencing previous comments they made after our project was killed?"

Hennig, however, knows all too well that change is the only constant. "Of course they do, of course we do".

"I also think Respawn's game has the benefit of being largely developed before they were acquired".

Though this may appear as another EA u-turn, the story is likely less interesting.

While this statement doesn't completely rule out the possibility DLC might get announced down the line, it would be really nice to just buy a Star Wars game, have the whole story be there at launch, and for it to conclude in such a way that it doesn't feel like I need to buy more DLC to experience a "real" ending.

TT Games, of course, has a long history with Star Wars, as the studio's run of LEGO games began with the first LEGO Star Wars game in 2005. We're looking at: "What is the next decade of storytelling?" But we needed to cut away to the villains, which was something I never allowed us to do on Uncharted. Star Wars, not only do we cut between villains but we also cut between multiple protagonists. We did the thing on this side of the camera, but we don't know how it's going to turn out. Still, it would be nice if there was less of a focus on chasing Federation Internationale de Football Association levels of profit with every major release.
