Actor Rami Malek has been named in the cast for the new James Bond film. It was here that Ian Fleming penned his Bond novels, so the team chose to honour his memory by launching the film at the island.

"Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica", it reads.

The journey to the upcoming 25th James Bond film has been one that has been thoroughly shaken and stirred. A mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist quickly unravels and leads Bond on a trail to a mysterious villain armed with risky new technology.

Bond 25 marks Daniel Craig's fifth outing as James Bond. Daniel Craig was visibly surprised after Malek's message.

Today, as part of the big announcement, Malek went on Good Morning America to talk about the opportunity to join the iconic franchise. Though eventually, Boyle dropped from the picture entirely over creative differences, leaving Joji Fukunaga to step into the director's chair. In particular, Waller-Bridge's job was reportedly to infuse more humor into the overall story.

Malek, 37, who drew critical acclaim for his portrayal of Queen front man Freddie Mercury in "Bohemian Rhapsody" past year, will play Bond's nemesis in the upcoming film, which goes by the working title "Bond 25", producers said. The director for Bond 25 is Cary Fukunaga, who replaced original director Danny Boyle during pre-production.

Back in February, Malek addressed rumors that he was to play the villain in the highly anticipated spy sequel, though his role in the movie has yet to be confirmed.

The Caribbean island is very much a home away from home for Bond, as in addition to being where Fleming wrote his spy novels, it has also been the setting for several of the films, most notably Dr.
