Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Makes Huge Manchester United Admission

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has warned his Manchester United squad to be fit before they report back for pre-season this summer or risk being excluded from the club's summer tour.

Manchester United's miserable season ended in a whimper, as already relegated Cardiff City stormed the Theatre of Dreams to claim a 2-0 win.

"Challenging for the title next year would be a miraculous season because we are so far behind at the moment, points-wise", Solskjaer said on BBC Football.

"Every club has a period like this and you just have to work through it and have a plan in place and I'm sure that's what they'll do because it's a massive club". "We expect them to be ready to go on July 1 when we start. I will leave the club in a good state whenever I leave". The end of the season just makes it clearer. "I've been in the reserves and we send them away saying "come on look after yourself" because you never know what the manager is going to do when you come back after the summer", Solskjaer added.

Ole must also be wishing he had a player of Rio's ilk as the need for a quality centre-back is of top priority. "It's not a shock".

The team that finishes sixth will have to go through the qualifying stage which begins during pre-season, and often has its effects towards the fag end of the campaign.

A poor draw at last-placed Huddersfield has been followed by an emphatic defeat to Cardiff, who took a 22nd minute lead when Nathaniel Mendez-Laing was fouled by Diogo Dalot and converted the penalty himself.

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford had a header well saved by Cardiff 'keeper Neil Etheridge but United fans had little to cheer about apart from the performance of Mason Greenwood, the 17-year-old forward who became United's youngest Premier League starter. If we manage to get to February or March and being close then that's fantastic.

"We're not going to catch how many points, 32? Last time we were in the Europa League with loads of youngsters we won it and the League Cup we have to start the season with the aim to win". We have to challenge for the top four and a trophy.
